The principal of Atlantis High – Violet is vain and obsessed with her appearance. She changes her hair and dress constantly during each day – and has had major cosmetic surgery. Always fiddling with her make-up and hair, Violet puts pressure on her students to look good. She tries her best to maintain the prestige of Atlantis High…Money is also incredibly important to Violet – not so it can be spent on the school, but so she can keep up her appearances. She makes sponsorship deals with companies and Atlantis High school.

 

Robyn Malcolm
After finishing her studies at Toi Whakaari – the NZ Drama School, Robyn has appeared on many of New Zealand’s theatre stages. She was also a core cast member of SPP’s Shortland Street for 5 years. Her most recent theatre shows have included “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, “Much Ado About Nothing”, “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof” and “Othello”. She has also featured in the Tribe.

MR DORSEY

MR DORSEY
The science teacher at Atlantis High, Mr Dorsey has a love of science yet behaves strangely – and has a fondness for mice and rodents. Sometimes his eyes seem to turn green… Is he a brilliant scientist retained by a third world power – or does he work for another organisation on another planet? Why does he gaze into the stars and reminisce about a “lizard family” and what is the significance of his fondness for the star system Fenorg?

Is he a force for good or bad?

 

Ken Blackburn
Ken has already appeared in two of Cloud 9’s previous productions; William Tell and Swiss Family Robinson. Other recent productions Ken has appeared in include Xena, Hercules, Lord of the Rings and FARSCAPE. He is a man of many talents including acting, directing for stage and screen and numerous voice overs for commercials, film narrations and documentaries.

MRS VERMONT

MRS VERMONT
Octavia’s mother is a 1950s cliche American mother. She seems to have walked straight out of a television commercial and is always “offering” products to people she meets. Glamorous and well-dressed she has an impeccable appearance yet her behaviour is to say the least – unpredictable. Is she human or an android? If so, where did Commander Vermont meet her? And what is the implication for their daughter – Octavia.Why does she always seem to be in such a good mood? Why is everything so perfect from the outside with the Vermont house – are there in fact secrets that are hidden inside?

 

Jane Waddell
Jane brings the part of Mrs Vermont to life on the screen with great vitality and exuberance reflecting her considerable acting experience in television, film and the theatrical stage. Jane has also appeared in Cloud 9’s Enid Blyton Secret Series, The Legend of William Tell, and William Shatners Twist in the Tale.

COMMANDER VERMONT

Octavia’s eccentric father is macho and a military war-hero. He still seems to be fighting some cause – but his past history is very mysterious. How did he get into the Military? Who is he really? More importantly, who does he work for…?Ray Henwood
Ray has been a major contributor to the New Zealand television and film industry for many years. He was a founding member of Wellington’s two main professional theatres, Downstage and Circa. He has appeared in numerous theatre shows, most recently including the one man show “Playing Burton”, “Rutherford”, Waiting for Godot” and the US play “Delicate Balance”. His television credits include Cloud 9 productions the Enid Blyton Secret Series, William Tell, A Twist in the Tale and SSP’s Xena and Hercules.

 

GRANDPA GORDON

GRANDPA GORDON
Giles’ eccentric grandfather is unhappy at first to move to Sunset Cove. Neurotic and young at heart, Grandpa offers sometimes bizarre but encouraging advice to Giles and pops up in the most unexpected ways.Grandpa’s first love (excluding his family of course) is television – he literally sits in front of the television all day and will awake from his heavy snoozing as soon as the channels change.

 

Martyn Sanderson
Martyn is a veteran of both stage and screen. Martyn is a regular performer in the theatre and has been in Cloud 9’s previous productions, The Enid Blyton Adventure Series and The Legend of William Tell.
