SPECIAL ATLANTIS HIGH GUIDE TO CHRISTMAS 1

SPECIAL ATLANTIS HIGH GUIDE TO CHRISTMAS

“Well hello there – it’s me, Santa Claus. Christmas is such a wonderful magic time of the year and brings joy to millions of people around the world – including Sunset Cove. In this special bumper 3 page guide, the people of Sunset Cove bring you their guide to Christmas…”

Christmas in Sunset Cove

As Santa discovered the first time
he visited it, Sunset Cove celebrates Christmas very differently. Firstly, remember that there are on average 364 days of sun per year and average temperatures in December here are 78 degrees. So it is (as the newsman says) hot hot hot – but Christmas Day is the exception because that’s the one day in the year there is no sun – but snow!

For some strange reason, Sunset Cove is situated on the Antarctic northern archipelago which means there is a strong gust of ice cool wind every 25th December – and you are guaranteed snow! About 5 feet of snow falls on
Christmas Day morning. The Sunset Cove people are not used to snow and it turns their world upside down as they adapt to snow on this fantastic day -, as we will see below…

Not many homes in Sunset Cove have chimneys so Santa must get into houses to deliver presents through letterboxes, satellite dish receivers, up drain pipes, through open windows, the back door, the front door, sometimes even through the keyhole. The most popular presents in Sunset Cove he delivers are sun tan lotion, moisturizer, toothbrushes, sunbeds, surfboards – reflecting the love of the town for the sun, shiny teeth and the beach.

The people of the town have an annual snowman competition – they must build the biggest and best-looking snowman out of all the tonnes of snow. The winner gets a gigantic hamper full of a year’s supply of sun tan lotion. The competition is presided over by Frosty the Snowman – who has a strange tendency to award the prize to whoever makes the best looking snowwoman…

12 VIEWS OF CHRISTMAS
Santa has found out what Christmas means to some of the most famous citizens of Sunset Cove – here are their accounts (described by themselves) of what Christmas means to them…

GILES: “I love Christmas. For me it is a magic and wonderful time that I celebrate with my Mum and Grampa. I love the music, giving presents to those I love. I’ll try to give Octavia something nice this year – I may make something for her. Christmas in Sunset Cove is a bit weird and celebrated differently. This year I want a book on Shakespeare and a computer”.

JET: “No way Santa – get out o
f my face! Okay… I’ll answer your question. Christmas is actually a conspiracy by global companies to make everybody buy presents. Santa himself is really the Chief Executive of SNOWBIZ TOYS Limited, a north pole based organisation that hires elves on very bad wages to make millions of toys in terrible working conditions. I say no way to Christmas. And that Frosty guy gives me the creeps…”

THE SUNSET COVE GUIDE TO VALENTINES DAY 2

THE SUNSET COVE GUIDE TO VALENTINES DAY

5 things not to give on Valentines Day:

  1. Highly venomous snake
  2. A one way ticket to the other side of the world
  3. Information on who you’ve been cheating with
  4. Liposuction or plastic surgery vouchers
  5. Garlic chewing gum

ALIENS AND VALENTINES DAY

Aliens celebrate something similar to Valentines Day called the “Glorg” festival.

Young aliens wanting to prove their love to someone have to wrestle a 7ft tall, three eyed monster to the ground. If they succeed the monster is given as a pet to their loved one.

Aliens show their affection in different ways from humans. They don’t kiss or rub noses – they perform a complicated dance, jumping from one foot to another and rubbing elbows together followed by rubbing their big toe. This is done to special mumbo jumbo alien music while all the time yelling “Gorg!” “Gorg!”

Older alien couples balance buckets of ice cold water on their heads to show their stamina and dedication to do anything for the one they love

What would Sunset Cover’s give on Valentines Day

Giles loves Octavia and would probably go for something conventional like a bunch of flowers or some chocolates – maybe even a poem.

Jet might give Beanie a pair of earmuffs to keep his big ears warm. But then again she might disregard Valentines Day altogether. Jet sees these days as commercial conspiracies.

Antonia would buy Mr Dorsey a whole lot of mice. She knows this is something he loves.

Josh might send Octavia a card from Silver Lining. He’d want to send her something but he’d like it to be from his alter ego and anonymous.

Sabrina would only send her lover’s a wish list of what she would like for Valentines Day.

THE SUNSET COVE GUIDE TO VALENTINE 1

THE SUNSET COVE GUIDE TO VALENTINES DAY
Cupid’s been doing the rounds in Sunset Cove and this week it’s Valentines Day. So here is our Guide to Valentines Day in Sunset Cove.

HISTORY OF VALENTINES DAY

5 gifts to give on Valentines day

  1. Flowers
  2. Chocolates
  3. Jewellery
  4. Hugs and kisses
  5. A marriage proposal

Valentines Day in Sunset Cove started around 500MD. Mid February was Spring time and a time for fertility.

Many years ago a young man named Drew Druid got his wife for Valentines Day a giant 20ft high Domino game. She played with it for hours but when it came time to knock them down she crushed 20 villages. Rumour has it that this is how Stone Henge came to be.

In Victorian times in Sunset Cove men gave their lovers a box of tissues. With all the pollenous flowers around at that time of year it was a thoughtful gift.

Around the 11th Century Dr Goggs a Transilvanian surgeon made a new compound of lipstick. He thought this would be a wonderful gift for his wife. It was later discovered that the lipstick contained superglue and her lips were stuck together for weeks until they could be chisled open. While he appreciated her weight loss and lack of nagging at the time the prototype lipstick never made it to be a great Valentines Day gift.

CUPID

It is said that long long ago Cupid was firing his arrows at unsuspecting young people when he had a sudden sneezing fit – thousands of arrows were shot in every direction. This may have had an influence on a young man called Cassanova who was said to have up to 5,000 lovers.

Cupid has struck out a few times in Sunset Cove. His arrow aimed at Sabrina must have had a kink in it because all she seems to love is money. When Valentines Day comes around Sabrina sends out dozens of cards to every boy in town asking them to send her Credit Cards, not Valentines cards.

THE ATLANTIS HIGH GUIDE TO APRIL FOOLS DAY

THE ATLANTIS HIGH GUIDE TO APRIL FOOLS DAY

The 1st of April is best known as April Fools Day. It is greatly celebrated in Sunset Cove although some pranks are hard to recognise because of the strange nature of Sunset Cove anyway.

THE HISTORY OF APRIL FOOLS DAY
There is no set date of when April Fools Day first started – but in the 16th century the 1st of April was the first day of spring and often considered the start of the New Year. When the calendar was developed New Year celebrations were moved to January 1st but some obstinate people still celebrated on April 1st. These people were thought to be silly because it wasn’t the correct date. They were said to be “fools” and pranks were played on them.

APRIL FOOLS IN SUNSET COVE

There are always jokers in society and Sunset Cove is no different. The biggest prankster in Sunset Cove is believe it or not – Coach Shane. Although he loves himself to bits he can’t resist playing jokes on other people.

Coach Shane’s Mum was wearing her best white shirt one April Fools Day – Coach Shane sprayed ink all over it! Lucky it was invisible ink and was gone within a few seconds.

He’s also placed fake spiders in Violet Profusions draw – told Vita that she had won the lottery and pretended he was dead!

In Sunset Cove everyone surfs. There are nuns that surf and grandmothers that surf. One year in Sunset Cove the local radio station put out an urgent news bulletin telling everyone that surfing had been banned in Sunset Cove until further notice. Everyone was flabergasted! They later retracted the statement reminding everyone they’d been “April Fooled”.

Some people don’t take “fools” very well. Sophie had a prank played on her one year and the boy who did it never forgot. Sophie was so enraged that she sent her poltergeist to teach him a lesson. He ended up suspended by his underwear on the school roof. Sophie didn’t keep him there for long and he apologised.

So remember, April Fools Day is a great day to play harmless pranks but make sure the person can take a joke.

THE ATLANTIS HIGH GUIDE TO HAIR STYLES 2

THE ATLANTIS HIGH GUIDE TO HAIR STYLES

Sabrina Georgia
Sabrina has blond hair in tight fluffy curls. She’s proud of her hair – it helps her stand out in a crowd. Sabrina didn’t always have curly hair.

When Sabrina was younger she had the straightest hair you’ve ever seen. One day her mother brought her home a puppy – a poodle. Sabrina was amazed at the dogs curls! She decided then and there that she wasn’t ever going to have straight hair again.

Sabrina now spends 2 hours once a fortnight in the most expensive Dog Groomers in town. She’s well known for her tight fluffy curls and no-one knows how she does it.

The Aliens

The aliens in Sunset Cove don’t have hair. Their “head” style consists mainly of large veins.

They have been caught out a couple of times imitating people combing their hair. Which can be a messy business for some aliens with sharp combs and large veins…

The Anti Hair campaign

Not everyone makes a style out of the hair on their head. Recently there have been collectors strolling the street of Sunset Cove. Their cause is “Women against Shaving”. These woman believe in facial hair and underarm hair and this is their style.j

These same women have formed a new club in the last few months “The lonely heart club”.
